Electric heating tube: the role of protective oxide film on the surface of electric heating element

There should be a protective oxide film on the surface of the normally used heating element. This layer of cerium oxide should be evenly distributed over the entire surface of the component, and its composition is a nickel-chromium and nickel-chromium-iron alloy and an iron-chromium-aluminum alloy. The distribution of the oxide film on the surface of the commercial electrothermal alloy material is not uniform, and the composition content of the electric heating tube does not meet the expected requirements. Therefore, the preheating treatment must be performed before the electric heating element is activated.

The role of the protective oxide film on the surface of the electric heating element:

1. In the oxidizing medium, the penetration speed of the oxidizing gas can be slowed down, and the oxidation rate of the alloy can be lowered.

1. In a non-oxidizing medium (such as oxygen, hydrogen, carburizing gas, sulfide, etc.), the electric heating tube slows down the gas permeation rate and reduces the turbidity of the alloy.

2. The volatilization loss of the electrothermal alloy composition can be reduced under vacuum or low pressure conditions.
